Characters

Baby Azel

Alongside my team, we analyzed and reimagined how a 'dystopian' world may feel for little girls and families. How do clothes change over time? What would a day-to-day life look for a young girl living in a desert wasteland?

Adult Azel

As Azel's mind descends into desperation, her physical appearance changes alongside it.

After my colleague Will Larsen created the Version 1 base textures, I went for a Version 2 second pass, adding  extra character personality touch-ups.

Tonee the Pharmacist

For this quirky robot pharmacist, I worked with my team to conceptualize an eerie feeling, borrowing clothes from both nurses and corporate outfits.

Lighting Environments

The Locker Room

In this scene, our character's health is declining rapidly and the room is textured to reflect her inner state.

After a few variations, we decided to go with a yellow-green aura, as it creates an atmopshere of discomfort and rot.

The Pharmacy

This setting showcases the cold, sterile atmosphere of Haven's most prominent pharmaceutical company. Despite it's clean-cut design, decaying textures and ominous lighting reveal it's true condition. I added subtle red accents in every shot to maintain a sense of danger.

Props

Azel's Helmet

inspired by Chinese Peking Theatre Masks, I designed Azel's helmet to reflect her stubborn, intense personality.

Props for Lore

To fill Azel's space with history, I created illustrative 'photographs' that tell us a further story beyond the short film.
